This 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was the subject of a rotisserie refurbishment under previous ownership that was completed in 2023. Work involved repainting the body Atlantis Blue, retrimming the bucket seats in black hobnail upholstery, and retrofitting an overhauled 400ci V8. Shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission linked to a Safe-T-Track differential, and the car rides on a WS6 suspension as well as 15″ snowflake-style alloy wheels. Additional equipment includes four-wheel disc brakes, silver Trans Am graphics, a shaker hood, front and rear spoilers, a Hurst shifter, and long-tube exhaust headers.

The factory 301ci was removed and replaced with an overhauled “PWH” 400ci V8 as part of the refurbishment. A Cold Case aluminum radiator and an Optima battery have been fitted. This 1968 DeTomaso Mangusta is one of approximately 401 examples built during four years of production and was purchased in 1989 by an owner who placed it in storage for the ensuing three decades. Chassis 8MA750 underwent a recommissioning between 2020 and 2022 before being sold to its current owner following the project. Finished in red, the car is powered by a replacement 351ci Ford Cleveland V8 (from a Pantera) that breathes through a Holley four-barrel carburetor and is mated to a ZF five-speed manual transaxle. Additional features include power-assisted disc brakes, adjustable coilover independent suspension, 15” Campagnolo alloy wheels, fixed quad headlights, black leather interior upholstery, air conditioning, and power windows.
